About Me

I graduated in 1996 from the British School of Osteopathy in London (now known as the Health Sciences University) and worked in Romford, Essex as a partner in a well established practice for more than 20 years. I spent several years teaching and examining undergraduate osteopathic students at some of the major osteopathic schools. I have now moved back home to the West Country and work partly in Shaftesbury, Dorset and partly in Wincanton in Somerset where I am at Lawrence House Styling.

I have a very gentle style of working, preferring to use soft tissue techniques and articulation as well as cranial work and my treatment is suitable for all ages. I am happy to treat newborn babies and  many of my patients are in their 80’s and 90’s. Part of my Masters’s degree in Osteopathy was to do with treating older adults and I have a particular interest in this area.

Professionally, I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council, keep up to date with our required continuing professional development and am a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.

Outside of work, I look after my daughter and am a volunteer reader in her school and am a keen bell ringer and walker. I also love to cook, and the variety of food is one of the things I miss about London.

I am registered as a member of the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy and am part way through the SCC pathway. I have completed several other courses in paediatric osteopathy.

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of a wide range of health conditions through physical touch, manipulation, stretching, and soft tissue techniques.

Grounded in the principle that optimal health is achieved when the musculoskeletal system—comprising bones, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues—functions in harmony, When this balance is disrupted, it can lead to dysfunction and pain, such as back or neck pain, arthritis, sports injuries, postural problems, and headaches.

Osteopaths work not only to ease pain and relieve muscle tension, but also to improve blood flow, support nerve function, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes. Treatment is often complemented with tailored advice on posture, movement, exercise, and lifestyle to support recovery and help prevent future issues.

There is no need to visit your doctor before consulting an osteopath.
